BATTLE OF THE PLANETS POPY

Battle of the Planets was the US version of a cartoon TV series that was originally released in Japan under the name Gatchaman. The team of five figures were distributed in Japan by Popy and in France by Ceji Arbois both individually carded and as a 5 pack boxed set. They were also known to have been distributed in Germany on individual cards by Civas. 7-Zark-7 and 1-Rover-1 were released only in Spain by Jecsan and were packaged together on one card. 7-Zark-7 was never a part of the original Japanese Gatchaman cartoon.

The figures themselves are fairly fragile, had articulation in the legs, arms and neck and had heads made of a softer rubber.  Each figure included a vinyl cape that was thicker than what was used for most other action figures at the time, a helmet and a rifle that was the same for all five figures.
