AWA ALL STAR WRESTLERS REMCO

AWA All Star Wrestlers is an action figure line produced by Remco featuring wrestlers from Verne Gagne's American Wrestling Association. It was the first wrestling action figure line available for sale in the USA and Canada. Remco followed the basic design from their other 6" figure lines with articulation in the neck, arms, waist and legs. The figure's likeness to the actual wrestlers was quite accurate, though somewhat simplistic.

The first and second series were released as two-packs and were dubbed either "Tag Team" or "The Main Event". The second series also included three-packs with managers - The Road warriors were released together in series one, then again in series two including Paul Elering. Figures also included a few different stickers and badges in the packaging. The third series was released as two-packs which were dubbed "Greatest Grudge Matches". The "Mat Mania" series only had individually carded figures. This final series is the hardest to come by especially Nord the Barbarian, Shiek Adon Al Kaissie and Boris Zhukov. Their accessories and clothing are extremely rare and these complete figures are highly sought after. A few of the earlier figures were also released on Mat Mania cards including Ric Flair, Nick Bockwinkel and Paul Ellering.

The well known variants for this line are the muscular and flabby stomach versions of Terry Bamm Bamm Gordy, Jimmy Garvin, Scott and Bill Irwin. Also Carlos Colon had a variation with his trunks being a lighter shade of red. Their are also three versions of the Battle Royal Playset, each with a slightly different assortment of wrestlers and included a referee. The first included Curley Brown, the second Nasty Ned and the third Dick Woehrle. Curley Brown and Nasty Ned were never released individually.
